I was there for a special event that took place after normal closing. The place has excellent views that overlook the Schuylkill River damn. The food at the event was made onsite -very good. During the day they're aware events and tours. Check it out
Wish it was a clear night when my fiancé took me here..but either way it's absolutely gorgeous and it was alot of fun ridding bikes here..its only a 7min bike ride from our place 🙂
It's there. I don't think I've actually ever been inside. I just go fishing at that nearby deck or whatever it is. But it seems like a popular place.
This historic water works has very nice architecture. We walked down from the back of the art museum through a historic trail/walkway down to the river side. Unfortunately since we went on a Sunday and we couldn't see the exhibits. There is a couple of event venues there. And you can walk out to see the dam and people fishing there.
It seems only fitting that inside the City of Love sits one of the most unique and fantastic wedding venues. A bit like something out of a fairytale, and once praised for its “pleasant design” by Charles Dickens, the Water Works is a National Historic Landmark that offers couples the choice of several amazing sites within the venue to bring the vision for their wedding to life. Neoclassical architecture sets an ethereal tone, and its design is a romantic pairing of nature and modern technology.
The Engine House is a slice of historical elegance in classic Philadelphia style. The hardwood floor stretches out beneath its original crystal chandelier while simple details warm the room making it ideal to host an indoor ceremony. Complete with a tented Veranda for hosting the cocktail hour that overlooks the river, friends, and family can enjoy the breathtaking view of Boathouse Row and the Center City skyline. The Engine House features chef-attended interactive stations, a raw bar, a food library, and a full-service bar. The ballroom can also host a cocktail hour.
Couples who wish to have an outdoor ceremony can choose between the Grand Pavilion or the Gazebo. Standing over the Schuylkill River in grand, Neoclassic style with columns framing the space, the Grand Pavilion is a picturesque setting to say “I do.” A columned walkway leads out to the Gazebo off of the Mill House Deck. Surrounded by meticulously kept grounds and eye-catching architecture, the vintage Gazebo is classic and sophisticated.
absolutely Beautiful venue incredible views food was amazing and staff was great
I ❤️ Philadelphia because there are so many places to explore. This museum is free! So much information about the history of the city's water system. Many cool interactive displays, including a detailed short movie presentation. I very much enjoyed the visit.
Beautiful area for a picnic lunch, with benches,, gazebos, and nice views of the dirty Schuylkill River and Fairmont Dam. The park in the surroundings leading up to the Art Museum has beautiful overlooks and interesting statues and sculptures. Joggers and dog walkers can enjoy the paved trails. The traffic noise from the expressway can be Luis, but it's usually muddled by the waterfall over the dam/weir.
